Sultana Disaster Online Museum & Archives

On April 27, 1865, the steamship Sultana exploded on the Mississippi River in what remains the greatest maritime disaster in American. Over 1600 passengers, mostly Union soldiers recently released from Confederate prison camps, were killed either in the explosion, from drowning, or fire.

Sultana Disaster commemorative coins - accepting orders now!

Above is an image of the headside of the Sultana coin direct from the factory. They're still making some minor fixes on the coin, but I wanted to get the word out about the Sultana coins as soon as possible.

The coins are made of bronze and measure 1.75" diameter with a solid heft.

Individual coins are $9 $9.50 each plus $1 each for shipping and come in a plastic sleeve. If you'd like the coin protected in a solid plastic case (click here for an image) add $1.00 per coin. (UPDATE: Price modified and plastic cases now sold out). If you're interested in ordering multiple coins please contact me to discuss.

Only 100 of these coins are being made - so these are sure to be a collectors item!

All profits from the coin sale will go back to hosting costs for the website.

If you'd like to place an order, please email me at sultana@gmail.com with the quantity you'd like, and also indicate if you want the hard plastic cases.

Coins will ship within two weeks of order.
